The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway was the exclusive province of diesel power over the weekend of 26 to 28 July, when the first all-diesel event – the Heritage Diesel Weekend – took the railway by storm.

A wide variety of Toddington-based traction, including the long-awiated return of 1959-built class 26 no. 26043 (appearing as D5343) and 1962-built class 45 no. 45149, drew both enthusiast crowds as well as families looking for a day out with a difference. The class 45, appeared in an interesting ‘wedgwood blue’ overall livery which was, of course, its undercoat – the final BR blue livery will be applied over coming weeks.
