Although these are very difficult times the Central Hotel in Cheltenham seem to be bucking the trend.  Over ther last 2 years turnover has trebled & profits are up.  This is due to continued expansion from the small local company in Cheltenham.  The Central Hotels Group is privately owned & run by a local couple, who have excellent local knowledge.  The continued growth has helped to create new jobs.  A very welcome sign to the existing staff at the company, where other hotels & leisure in Cheltenham have cut back on staff.

The hotel company in Portland St Cheltenham has further plans.  This year they are looking at expanding into other leisure activities in the town such as pubs, restaraunts & are researching other possible ideas.

The Central Hotels have a sister company Castle Properties which rent property on 6 month AST contracts, which has also expanded over the last 2 years.

So it is not all bad out there in Credit Crunch Land, some business’s are fighting & winning.

 2011 was another fantastic year for Central Hotel & Castle Properties (Cheltenham) Ltd.

With Christmas now well & truly behind us it is a good chance for Central Hotel & Castle Properties staff to have their long awaited office party.  Today we will all be meeting for a drink & a meal for some 40 staff or so.

 I’d like to say a very big thankyou to all staff, old & new that have helped us carry on expanding the business, keeping it profitable & creating yet more jobs. A big thankyou to the cleaning staff, keeping everything smoothly running with very little complaints or problems.  Thanks to the office staff. Castle Properties I hardly have to be involved with as very little problems, & Central Hotel Group going strength to strength.  A very big thanks also to the building staff, in particular anyone that helped out in the renovation of the Old Dunn Horse in Ramsbottom, Manchester which was a long 12 months conversion into 8 apartments.  The quality of finish in the end being exeptional.

2012 – whats in store?

The cleaning & building staff will be happy with a new industrial unit being refurbished at present.  To provide new laundry facilities & storage to cope with the continually growing business & due to open in the next 2 weeks.  Cheltenham will hopefully see the addition to another 10 apartments added to the Serviced Apartment side of Central Hotel by the middle of the year.

The major event for 2012 all being well with be the addition of a 94 bedroom “full service” hotel in Birmingham.  Adding approximately 30 additional staff to the company.  Having function rooms, bars & a restaraunt, this brings a whole new dimension to the company.

Gold Cup 2012 is set to be as busy as ever for the Central Hotel & Central Serviced Apartments in Cheltenham.   Central hotel is located less than 1 mile from the famous Racecourse in Prestbury, Cheltenham.  Mr Clark the MD has said that bookings in the hotel & apartments have been stronger for 2012 than the previous 2 years.  He reports that his company with 100 rooms is already over 70% full for all 5 nights of the festival.  Mr Clark quoted “We are always 100% full for the festival, being so close to the racecourse, however bookings have come earlier this year.  The majority of people usually leave it to January or Febuary to book.  I’m expecting a very busy time in January this year for enquiries for the little rooms we have left.”

The famous Gold Cup festival in March is one of the highlights of the raceing calendar for 2012 with hundreds of thousands of people expected to visit Cheltenham.  The town becomes awash with people, Irish being a major for 5 days causing a nightmare for police in the traffic division where special one way systems are put in place for the week to help control the traffic flow.
