BERKELEY CASTLE

Berkeley Castle has been owned by the Berkeley family since the 12th Century, when Robert Fitzharding finally completed the Keep.

Untouched by the modernization from the Georgians or Victorians, Berkeley Castle is an remarkable piece of history from the Medieval period.

Originally built as a March Castle to keep out the Welsh, it has been transformed over the centuries to create a loving family home. This beautifully architectured castle has been in the Berkeley family for more than 850 years!

King Edward II was even kept prisoner and then murdered in the cell and dungeon in the King’s Gallery!

Berkeley Castle offers a range of facilities and activities to make for a great family day out.
